My First Travel Photo Blog Through Rishikesh, India

Wherever your interest lies in visiting Uttarakhand, be it in God or in the powers of nature or adventure, this is the perfect destination to explore the mountains. Set in the lap of mountains, ‘Dev Bhoomi’ is a land of awe-inspiring natural beauty and tranquil mysticism with abundance of wonderful adventures. I was lucky enough to celebrate Holi Festival in Rishikesh. I escaped the craziness of metropolitan city and instantly felt better after arriving here. We could breath better, stroll the streets without getting seriously harassed, and just hang out. Lets take a tour of Rishikesh with this photo blog.

On our first day in Rishikesh  and I went to the Little Buddha Cafe. This restaurant looks like a tree house and you find a lot of alternative people in this location. If India is the land of seekers, Rishikesh is the beating heart and soul of India. Rishikesh is also the Yoga capital of the world. What visitors mean by “Rishikesh” is the area of Laxman Jhula and Tapovan, a few miles north of Rishikesh town itself. For my first few days in Rishikesh, I happily wandered the town, relaxed in cafes with with river views and caught up on blogging.

We book a cab and enjoy the drive. Walk down Lakhshman jhula, and then grab a bite from Ganga Beach cafe. Spend sometime alone, sitting by the river, or if you are interested, meditate a while in any of the centers. And if you love adventure sports, then you would have ample options_ bunjee jumping, river rafting, cliff jumping, tho I am not so I have not done any of them. And if you are keen to know about the Sadhus, just start a random conversation with any of them sitting by the river, or under a tree.

The shopping mile after the Lakshman Jhula Bridge is really nice and you can get a lot of gifts, for example handcrafts, bags, clothes, cards and many more presents.

I fell in love with Rishikesh.

Partly I fell in love with the place: the mountains, the rushing river, the warm sun against the crisp winter air.
